I was looking for binoculars for backyard astronomy and couldn't decide between the Oberwerk 15x70's and the 11x70's, so I got both.

The 11x70's are unimpressive compared side-by-side with the 15x70's. The 70 mm aperture shows dim celestial objects (e.g. globular clusters), but objects that that are merely visible but vague at 11x show much greater detail at 15x. For skywatching, I would recommend going with a higher magnification.

The construction and optical quality of these binoculars is nonetheless excellent, and Oberwerk provided me very good service.

Very nice binoculars. However the magnification
is too much for hand held use. Went back to using
my 7x for hand held viewing. Much more
comfortable.
